Work- Work- Work

I wanted to assure all of you that I am okay. I have not been able to write much lately, for that I apologize. I worked an 8 hour day shift on Friday, 7am-7pm on Saturday and Sunday, 9:30 pm- 7:30 am Monday night and I am in the middle of another shift like that right now, with one more shift tomorrow night as well before I get a break. So, basically I have been working and sleeping! I also wanted to thank all of you for your comments on my posts, emails, and the lovely snail mail. The post office told me I am the second most popular recepient of mail on the ship right now. Everyone is so jealous. I am so blessed! I make sure to include my friends when I open mail, they love sharing in the delights from my packages. I also wanted to say how amazing God is. He cares about even the smallest details of our lives. I have worked three sets of nights shifts since I have been here. All of you know the fears and concerns I shared about staying up all night! God has blessed me with strength, alertness, and even pleasure in working nights. Beyond that, God has given me letters in the mail before each set of my night shifts. I have had self control to wait to open my mail so I have a special card to open during the middle of each of my night shifts. I feel this is God looking out for me and showing me he really cares and loves me. So, thanks to each of you who have taken time to send me letters. God is using you to encourage me. Thanks for the snail mail Aunt Joy, Aunt Marilyn, Mom K, Denny and Charlotte, and Mom Z!

I knew I was not feeling well, but I have never seen so many dots in front of my eyes previously! What a cute update to your blog. You must have had more time during the night to be recreating! And that is some driveway you have. How the kiddos in our neighborhood would love that. Dad and I have such a fun time watching all the little ones with their wheels zipping around on the cul-de-sac and using our driveway, because of its incline as a take off point. Your driveway would give lots of room for such excursions, they'd just have to be careful not to take a plunge!
You are keeping all of us well informed of what you are up to. Thanks so much for writing. Gayle M is coming to my Bible Study this morning, and phoned last night wondering if she could stay after to read your blog, as she has no access at home over the summer! Just another example of you blessing people by what you write!

Love you,
Mom Z

Mom K has to join Mom Z on this comment board--we're a team! Glad you enjoy the letters--they are a weekly ritual for me (I write them Sunday afternoons). I made a promise at the airport and a promise is a promise =D You would be proud of me--I hiked Mt. Lafayette in the White Mountains last weekend--nearly died doing it but I made it! Highest peak I've climbed to date. And while I was climbing and wanted to give up I thought of you and our climb up Kent's Ledge. You come to mind often girl! Keep up the good work for the Lord--He is well pleased. Love and hugs... Mom Kent

Hi Laura,
It is so exciting to read your semi-daily blogs. God is blessing you in so many ways. Not sure if your Mom told you.. but my Dad went home to his Precious Savior. And your Dad has been a great source of strength and a good shoulder for my Mom. I'm glad to hear that your weather is nice...we are NOW having our Spring Rain....which is OK we need it....but it would be nice to have a couple of days without it. Well I know this is short and hopefully sweet, but always know that I may not write alot, but I do read your blogs always. So people wouldn't know that unless I wrote you little encouraging notes. So I will try to do more. Take Care, and know we are praying always for you.

Hey, Laura,
It is so much fun to see how you are growing more and more in the Lord. He really does keep care of you. I remember the night and swing sifts and wonder sometimes if I was crazy for working them.
Yes, I too am praying for you daily. I love you, Grandma Jan

Hi Laura- I emailed you as well. I pray you stay strong and well as you minister to your patients. I prayed in the library sitting at the pc here for the baby. Is his mom on board all the time??? There is one thing I have learned in my 50 yrs is that I can't understand half of life at times. I look at the unjustice and crummy stuff and yell up to God literally..."come on already...rapture us" and then I carry on...If we don't we get stuck in the mud of life here on earth. So as Uncle Tom would say..."carry on be a soldier"...sounds like what Jesus would say ....Remember what I said about not turning our face from the battle field. You are strong and blessed with gifts from God to deal with all He has entrusted to you there on the ship and in the wards..carry on and we will pray on. Love You Lots, Aunt Joy
